Culture of the Future

The culture of the future is taking shape not twenty years from now, but right here and now—through every choice regarding themes, protagonists, and tone made by today’s institutions. This choice inherently involves a conflict: while traditional museums, theaters, and film studios uphold a language tested by generations, new audiences are looking for different formats and different kinds of protagonists. Some believe culture must be shielded from fleeting trends, whereas others argue that without a dialogue with the new generation, institutions risk becoming mere monuments to themselves.
